Rhythm In Bronze : A Gamelan Concert

Linking dance, and traditional and contemporary musical styles on the gamelan, this performance aims to introduce its audience to the beauty of the gamelan in an informal, fun, light-hearted way.

The repertoire also seeks to demonstrate the potential intricacy of gamelan performance style, glimpsed in fraction through the performance of regional gamelan styles, such as Balinese and Javanese styles, adapted for the Malay Gamelan orchestra. The inclusion of the new compositions for the gamelan is intended to feature the gamelan as an exciting and expressive contemporary Malaysian ensemble which is also faithful to its own essential musical aesthetics.
