In conjunction with ANGGOTA, we present a special screening of dance artist Lee Ren Xin’s recent video JALAN HARAPAN (2021, 43 minutes).
Between 2017 to 2020, Ren Xin began a daily ritual of walking, dancing, and documenting her observations of the neighbourhood where she grew up in Petaling Jaya. This video work presents images and footage recorded by Ren Xin, and invites us to reflect on what is visible or invisible in our own neighbourhoods; who are the different bodies that inhabit spaces and places; and how these may be affected by suburban planning and development.
