ASEF Unplugged Kuala Lumpur

Why do our proposals get rejected?

Organised to coincide with the 8th World Summit on Arts & Culture in Kuala Lumpur, ASEF Unplugged Kuala Lumpur brought together grants and funding managers from several cultural institutions and the private sector to speak about their initiatives and how these can be accessed for Malaysian arts projects.

The panelists discussed what makes a good or poor proposal, the focus of their funding programmes, and what their organisations are looking to support.

Panelists included Florence Lambert (Head of Arts & Creative Industries, British Council Malaysia), Miriam Hager (Programme Coordinator, Goethe-Institut Malaysia), Tsuyoshi Kurihara (Deputy Director, The Japan Foundation KL), Tan E-Jan (CEO, INXO Arts & Culture Foundation), Tunku Putri Afifah Tunku Anor (Head of Environment, Sports, Arts & Culture, Yayasan Sime Darby), Phina Sol (Knowledge, Networks, Policy Programme Manager, Cambodian Living Arts), and Fatima Avila (Project Manager - Culture, Asia-Europe Foundation. The event was moderated by Anupama Shekar (Director of Culture, Asia-Europe Foundation).
