Ang Tau Mui tells the story of a toilet cleaner who realizes on the day she dies that something has been missing in her life.
Through a series of flashbacks, encounters with different characters, and her letters to Lin Dai, (the Hong Kong movie queen), we get glimpses into her past and an idea of who she is. Originally written as a monologue, Ang Tau Mui will be staged this time as an ensemble performance by three players. The use of movement and multiple players aims to expand and heighten emotions and psychological states. Female and male players and the presence of a non-Chinese player such as Ang Tau Mui challenge conventional readings of gender and cultural types, opening up possibilities for wider interpretation in performance.
