The visual arts component of Five Arts Centre emphasizes experimentation and the creation of works which are ephemeral
and which explore non-traditional media.
Among the major contemporary Malaysian artists who have been associated with Five Arts Centre are Wong Hoy Cheong, Bayu Utomo Radjikin, Hasnol J. Saidon, Simryn Gill, Liew Kungyu, Nur Hanim Khairuddin, Raja Shahriman and Zulkifli Yusuf. Five Arts Centre, due to its multi-disciplinary focus, helped to establish performance art in Malaysia in events such as Sook Ching, Alter Art (which took place outdoors and indoors all over Fort Canning Park, Singapore) and Warbox, Lalang, Killing Tools.
Five Arts Centre also led the way in working with visual artists to design sets, from Redza Piyadasa to Bayu Utomo
Radjikin to Liew Kungyu to Carolyn Lau to Gan Siong King. In addition to that, the company has maintained very
productive relationships with graphic designers such as William Harald-Wong, Pius Eugene, 3nity, Loo Jia Wen and others.
Five Arts Centre member Chee Sek Thim runs Reka Art Space, fast gaining a reputation as a gallery that supports exciting
and alternative artists.
